MARK TWAIN'S AUTOBIOGRAPHY by Mark Twain - First Edition - 1924 - from Sumner & Stillman and

by Twain, Mark

Condition: See description

1924. With an Introduction by Albert Bigelow Paine. In Two Volumes. New York and London: Harper & Brothers, 1924. 2 pp Vol II undated ads. Original dark blue cloth, with dust jackets. First Edition. This is not so much an autobiography as an unconnected series of thoughts put down over the years, with the stipulation that they not be published until after his death ("I am writing from the grave. On these terms only can a man be approximately frank").~The two volumes are in remarkably fine, bright condition. As for the jackets, the only wear is the slightest of wear at the heads of the spines; the jackets' spines are as usual sunned (from light blue to light brown), and there is also some faint spotting there, possibly from heat(?). Blanck 3537 (state A, with ads in Vol II); McBride p. 254.
