About This Item

The First UK printing published by Faber and Faber in 1957. The BOOK is in Very Good++ condition with slight pushing at the spine ends. A little light marking to the board covers. The gilt titling remains bright. A hint of toning to the text-block with some offsetting to the blank end-papers. Free from inscriptions and erasures. The WRAPPER is complete and is in Very Good+ condition. Light edge-wear with some small nicks, creasing and a little loss at the corners and spine ends. Some fading of the red colouring to the spine. A small area of loss to the centre of the rear panel. The wrapper is protected in a removable Brodart archival cover. The book has been Signed (without dedication) by the author to the title page. A copy of the ticket for the signing event accompanies the title as provenance. The third scarce title from the acclaimed travel writer James (now Jan) Morris. Collectible. More images available on request. Ashton Rare Books welcomes direct contact.
