London: Chapman and Hall, 1856. Leather bound. Very good +. viii, [1], 625 p. 22 cm. 40 b&w illustrations, including title page vignette, by "Phiz." Half leather with marbled boards, gilt trim to spine. Matching marbled endpapers and text block edges. Small dent in rear fore-edge, else minor wear only. Small binder's label on front pastedown (S&T Gilbert) and label of former owner between following pages. A beautiful binding filled with bright clean pages.

Hablot Knight Browne, remembered as "Phiz," is best known for illustrating the novels of Dickens.
