A late-World War II anti-German, anti-Isolationist polemic by the American playwright and poet, Louis K. Anspacher, including several pages of his verse. Anspacher argues that the Pan-German mentality infects the minds of Germany as a whole, not merely the Nazi leadership, and that Anglo-American civilization must destroy it utterly lest it continue to re-emerge in history. He spares little: "The German soldier is still a serf. He accepts no moral or civic responsibility whatever. He would rather obey than think. He is trained to unconditional and unthinking, blind obedience. This Herrenvolk soldier is the most slavishly robotted animal in history. This is why the German soldier at command will take low advantage of armistice terms as he did in Paris on August 23rd, 1944. He will murder innocent civilians, shoot hostages, he will slaughter and strangle millions of Jews by mass-murder in his lethal vans and his Lublins, he will strip and whip the wives of hostages to death, as he did in the public square in Belgrade, he will rape the helpless women, bayonet the babies, he will commit blood-curdling and incredible atrocities; and he will do all these things with a cold and methodical ferocity that appalls the rest of civilized humanity. He will utilize pain, agony and torture systematically as military weapons. Even savages got beyond doing that. He will use his enemyís old men, women and children, as a front-line screen, behind which he advances and shoots at us; but we cannot shoot back without killing those whom we love. He will even utilize his own dead as booby-traps to kill our soldiers who try to give them decent burial. You will find all these things justified in their political philosophies and in the manuals of their military writers" (p. 11).
