First edition. Romantic novel set in the years before, during and after the Civil War. Although he was born in Indiana, Eggleston served as a Confederate soldier. Illustrated with a frontispiece with a tissue guard and five internal glossy plates by C. D. Williams 433 pp plus 2pp ads.
