The first of the second volume was not published until 1970. The boards are patterned in the blue and red on white with a dark blue and white jacket, and states "First Edition" on the copyright page. The top edge is stained blue by the publisher. The book was obviously well cared for. Now in a new archival clear removable cover. The previous owner has used a clear cover with the lingering evidence of cellophane tape stain on both covers and the shadow tone on the free end papers. There is some edge dust soil from storage etc., the board edges have light shelf wear and the ends are soft; the dust jacket is slightly edge worn. There are no marks or stains within. A truly exceptionally nice copy of this classic work. Pp xxi, 555, lvi. Includes index. Illustrations by Sidonie Coryn. Technical drawings by Paul Child. ; 8vo .
