Octavo, 156, xxii, [6], 219, [1], viii, [9]-168pp. Full mottled leather, title on spine is worn and faded. Corners and edges rubbed, worn through in places. Joints cracked but holding firmly, spine ends chipped. Foxing throughout, occasional pencil marks, a few untrimmed pages and tears to page edges. Previous owner's name written on title page and rear free endpaper. Inscription on front free endpaper: "Jere. Smith's Book: Bought of Hon. A. Kennedy, Muncietown, Ia. Sept. 20th 1843." Andrew Kennedy (1810-1847) was a lawyer and U.S. Congressman from Muncie, Indiana who served in the House from 1841-1847. A nice example.
