A very good, clean original copy of this Memorial pamplet issued by the Massachusetts Historical Society from their annual Proceeedings. Though the interior is very good and the binding sturdy and paper moderately yellowed, the stock has become fragile with age and is starting to chip at the edges, cover spine split. Native of Maine, raised in Dover, N.H.; astronomer, lawyer, historian.

John Slafter emigrated from Wales around 1680 and is thought to have settled in Lynn, MA, and to have raised at least 10 . children there before relocating to Connecticut in 1716. This genealogy follows his male line of descent through 8 generatioans, comprising some 4,597 names. It includes a genealogy for James Slafter believed to be the 10th child of John Slafter we well as lists of Slafters who graduated from colleges and a Roll of Honor listing those who rendered service in the French & Indian War, Revolutionary War, the War of 1812, and the Civil War. Individual indices are devoted to male descendants with the surnames, Slafter, Slaughter, or Slater, female descendants who do not bear a variant of the patronymic and the spouses of Slafter descendants.
