New York: Harper & Brothers Publishers, 1855. Hardcover. Very Good. 12mos. 378, 511 pages. Hardcovers bound in original taupe publisher's cloth with cover designs embossed in blind. The bindings are moderately rubbed and worn. The spines are a little sunned and faded. Corners bumped. A sound set with secure inner hinges. "Mordecai" is written on the front flyleaf of the first volume, and "Geo. W. Mordecai" is written on the title page of the second volume. George Washington Mordecai (1801-1871) was a North Carolina planter, banker, and railroad executive.
