Longman, Hurst, Rees, Orme and Brown, London, 1818. First Edition. Hardcover. Good Condition/No Dust Jacket. Three volumes (does not include supplementary volume with maps etc.) each in its own bespoke modern brown box with hinged lid. Vol. I and II were published in 1818, Volume III was published in 1819. All plates are present and including coloured and fold-out maps, one of which has a lift-up flap, plates included as frontis's are not bound in the location directed to the binder. Each volume is in its original grey boards, these are darkened and have loss on the spines. The joints are cracked and boards are attached by cords. Internal binding is sound, Vol. I page 12/13 has marginal notes, pages are otherwise clean but with uncut (untrimmed edges) . There is occasional light foxing in each of the volumes. Packed weight 9kg approx. 3-volume set (complete). No dust jacket, as published. Ex-library, with library plate from Doncaster Reference Library, stamps and label(s). Quantity Available: 1. All with bookplates for Charles John Philip Cave and motto "Cave Adsum" translating as "Beware - I am here".Bookplate for Captain Charles John Philip Cave FRAS, FSA (1 May 1871 – 8 December 1950). Meteorologist, church architectural historian and captain in the Royal Engineers. The plate monogrammed "GWE 1902"- George William Eve, RE (1855-1914).Dedicated to George Spencer Churchill, Duke of Marlborough, Prince of the Holy Roman Empire, Marquess of Blandford, Earl of Sunderland, Baron Spencer of Worm-Leighton and Baron Churchill of Sandridge. Good clean condition with wear to cover and shelf wear to spine. Bumps and wear to cover edges. Foxing and tanning to endpaper and first few pages. Finely engraved frontispieces. Some marks to occasional pages. Volume 1 with frontispiece engraved half detached. Speckled page edges.This set may require additional postage charges
