London: Sampson Low, Marston and Company Limited, 1893 621pp. Many pages are uncut. Front hinge is weak and starting to open. Tips, spine ends and lower edges are rubbed. Spine head is missing a large piece, revealing the top of the the text block. Boards have light spots and light stains. Top edge of pages 412 to 416 are torn away but present (caused by former owner trying to separate uncut pages), affecting chapter title only. Pages 465-552 have a 1/4" - 1-1/2" tear at the foredge. Spine covering is detached from the spine at the rear gutter, separating the 'M' in 'Memoir' from the rest of the title. Rear board is almost entirely detached, being held on by a 1/2" band at the spine heel. May have other flaws. Text is clean and unmarked.. First Edition. Hard Cover. Poor/No Dust Jacket.
