A New Edition of the "Musical Drama" in Two Volumes ... Two Volumes in One. London: Richard Bentley, New Burlington Street, Publisher in Ordinary to her Majesty. 1851.
This history of the opera is far more interesting than most. The author traced the origin of operatic performances and how the opera of one country affected the others. He has included information and details about the specific operas and performers of the lyrical stage. By adding anecdotes and insider details, he has presented a book for laymen and aficionados alike.
