The name of a previous owner (Chas. Ridgely) appears in ink to the top of the title and Preface to the Weimar Edition pages, and there is extensive but minor foxing. The title and Frontispiece are stained. Bound in 3/4 brown leather over marbled boards, with moderate wear to the edges..

Some loss and chipping to spine, number in ink to lower spine,engraved bookplate to front pastedown endpaper (John William Willis Bund). Wide margins and untrimmed page edges, good solid binding, very clean text throughout, lacking the frontis which doesn't appear to have ever been bound in with this copy. The first English language edition of Charles-Joseph, Prince de Ligne's mock autobiography of Prince Eugene. A very nice example. Very scarce. Overall condition is Very Good.
