About This Item

Boston & New York: Houghton Mifflin Company. Near Fine/No Jacket. 1914. First US Edition. Hard Cover, Green Cloth. 463 pages, index, source notes, frontis. portrait. A very nice copy, hardcover in green cloth with gilt decor, with gilt top edge, showing only light wear at extremities, otherwise bright, solid and entirely clean. As one of the three great leaders of the Italian Risorgimento, Venosta's memoirs represent the aristocratic attitude among the patriotic Italians, and gives a personal and vivid account of Italian life during an important period of the Nineteenth Century. Translated from the Italian by William Prall, with an introduction by William Roscoe Thayer. .
