ont> Printed for Private Circulation; Samuel Moxon and Son : Leeds, 1899 Book. Very Good. Hardcover. A very scarce and interesting work on the history of the 'Yorkshire Penny Bank' now known as the 'Yorkshire Bank'. Being a series of three addresses delivered to staff in 1898. This work, by H. B Sellers, was issued because 'it became necessary, for legal purposes, to study somewhat closely the early history of the Bank, which led to a further record of 'Memoranda', and it seemed to me unwise that information which had cost much labour and research should be again laid out of sight and forgotten'. Illustrated, with photographs of the bank's premises and many notable figures in the bank, including its founder, Colonel Edward Akroyd. Loosely inserted is an article on the Yorkshire Penny Bank from the May 1 1959 issue of the 'Yorkshire Post' celebrating its 100 years. With a library bookplate to the front pastedown. Noted as 'M Perkin, Armley'. Stamp to the title page stating 'M Perkin Armley' wihth a stamp of a policeman next to the library stamp. Condition: In the original full cloth binding. Externally, generally smart. Several marks to boards. Minor bumping to the extremities and to the head and tail of spine. Bookplate to the front pastedown, M Perkin, Armley with a shelf number. Stamp to the title page for 'M Perkin Armley' accompanied with an ink stamp of a policeman. Shelf number written in ink to the top of title page. Internally, generally firmly bound though strained in places. Pages are generally bright with just the occasional spots. Overall Condition: Very Good.
