About This Item
Pacific Brewing and Malting Co, 1898. First Edition. Trade Paperback. No Jacket. Folio - between 12" - 15" Tall (oblong). Exceptionally rare Pacific Northwest brewery promotional title, celebrating the Spanish-American War (in images from Cuba, and oddly - Spain). No copies of this work are known to survive. Pacific Brewing and Malting Co., based in Tacoma, was founded in 1897, and closed in 1916. It exported along the West Coast, and across the Pacific. It was revived in recent years, and still operates. This work is unusual for a number of reasons, ranging from format (an oblong folio measuring 10 x 13.5 inches landscape), to the early promotional use of the Spanish-American War in beer marketing, to the three pages devoted to sales slogans that advocate Pacific beer for respectively: a) nursing mothers (!); b), 'for general family use'; and in an apparent play on the Elks, a BPOE slogan. Very good copy in original pale gray printed wraps [16] pages. Includes 3 pages of maps.B/w Illustrations.
