He provides an autobiography of himself and then presents essays dating from 1866 to 1890. Topics include "Physical Basis of Life" and "Natural Rights and Political Rights."This is a good copy, with some wear to the covers. Previous owner signed his name on fly leaf. Binding is tight.

Purchased by us from science writer and philosopher Martin Gardner, and with his pencil underlining and marginalia, but not his owner's name. No date, but believed c.1900.

Book VG with wear to spine ends and corners, rubbing and soil to boards, binding tight, text clean and unmarked, with toning throughout and handsome gilt to top edge of text block. No DJ.
