Octavo. 589pp.; 730pp. Rebound, simple cloth boards with leather spines, new endpapers, (one is creased and stained on edges). Thirteen total plates, including 2 folded engraved maps, (one has tear, but maps and fold-out views have been reinforced with linen backing, some small marginal tears, stains and wrinkling to edges), 5 folding plates, and six single page plates, one which is colored. Each plate has small ownership stamp. First plate, Mexico City, is trimmed closely and has some staining. Solid binding and linen reinforcement make this a very readable/ useable set. Illustrations are by Emily Elizabeth Swinburne Ward, wife of H.G. Ward, who accompanied him on his second trip to Mexico.
