Paris.. [ 1843].. Map, outline handcolor, 7 1/2 x 5 1/2 inches on sheet 10 x 7 inches. Very good condition. An uncommom French map of what is now the western United States and Mexico, somewhat behind the times in showing Mexico encompassing what was then an independent Texas as well as California. Missions are shown along with Indian tribes in the northern and eastern section of the map, marked as the United States. The Columbia River is marked 'Lewis.' Engraved by Pierre Tardieu.
