INSCRIBED AND SIGNED BY AUTHOR 2" chip out of DJ which also has stains/fading/foxing; triangular section, 3" wide and 1" high, of front cover is faded (from water?) and spine is darkened; pages have light foxing and soiling; still quite presentable. Deep red cloth boards with silver titles on spine; panoramic pictorial endpapers showing the University in two different eras, 19th century in front and 20th century in back; 254 pp. plus 16 pp. of b/w photos. The history of the Miami University of Ohio during its first one hundred fifty years. Notable stories include William Holmes McGuffey of "Reader" fame, the departure of student army volunteers who took the same train to join opposite sides of the Civil War, the landmark creation of a fellowship for "artist-in-residence", and many more.
