About This Item

Oxford & London: N Whittock / J Bumpus / Hinto and Co. / H Harris. Half-Leather. Fair/No Jacket (as published). 9" X 11.5. Nathaniel Whittock. This book contains lithographs and descriptions of 40 notable buildings in the English city of Oxford. Not dated but it was in all probability published between 1828 and 1862. Given the combination of publishers stated the date is more likely to be in the early 1840s. The half leather binding is worn externally. The names of two previous owners have been added to the front free end paper (dated 1901 and 1903), otherwise the book is free of annotations. The front free end paper and fold-out frontispiece have become detached but are present. There is light foxing throughout. There is no full page plate to accompany the text for building 40 (the botanic gardens) but the illustration does appear as a vignette on the title page. This copy shows wear and obvious signs of use. Available for prompt dispatch from the UK, please email with any queries that you may have. If your shipping address is outside the UK please only order using the fast / air / expedited shipping service for insurance purposes.
