The third issuance of this biography of Winfield Scott Stratton, developer of the richest gold mine in the Pikes Peak region of Colorado. Mr. Stratton, a man of contradictory behaviors, used his newfound wealth to benefit the people of the area where the gold was found. With several black & white plates bearing scenes from the mines; endpapers with maps of Colorado. Stated Stratton Centennial edition in publisher's The American Library series. --- In light blue cloth-covered boards with titling in gilt to cover and spine. Jacket bears rudimentary drawings of the subject and the Rockies to front panel. --- With sunning to edges of cloth & splatters of soiling to lower textblock edge, else a tightly-bound and unmarked copy. Unclipped, Good only dust jacket with considerable darkening to spine, other discoloration and chipping to edges, but remaining intact and protected in removable archival mylar protector.; Octavo - 8 to 9 in. tall; 347 pages .
