About This Item
The Aztecs came from obscurity, a wandering tribal group, and eventually they stopped near Tula, the ruins of which they could see the splendor of a past empire. They reinvented themselves on their journeys, embracing new gods and even changing their name to Mexica. In about AD1195 they entered the Valley of Mexico and formed a new empire. A conflicted society - deep appreciation of poetry, art, flowers and song, overshadowed by terror and sacrificial practices. In 1519 Cortes claimed the land for Spain. 200 pages with numerous mainly colour photographs and paintings throughout. Book in near fine condition. Dust jacket in good+ condition with some small tears and knocks and some rubbing (see photo).
