About This Item
London: George Routledge, 1858 First edition. HB. Original decorative pictorial cloth in shades of green patterned all over with gilt, black and green floral motifs to front and back covers, lettered in gilt to spine and green to front; on bevelled boards, with all page edges gilt. Yellow endpapers. vi, 91pp, quarto. With attractive b&w engravings in the text by Birket Foster, mostly landscape views imagining the journey of a poet or artist through life- the subject of this poem by Beattie. A Good copy. The covers are very good, generally bright, with some light rubbing to the bevelled edges. The binding is sound. Front free blank endpaper has been removed (probably had old owner's details on it). The pages have an old water stain mark to lower third or so: this is light and on some pages very light; it occasionally just overlaps the lower part of the images but is not very noticeable where it does, so the images can be appreciated; otherwise the pages are clean. Pictures available.
