Softcover. 4.25" wide by 7" tall. A bright, shiny, clean, tight copy. The spine is square and flat. NO owner's name or bookplate. NO remainder mark. As a 24 year-old Captain in the 93rd Highlanders, the author was captured by the Japanese while escaping from Sumatra after the fall of Singapore. With other British prisoners he was marched into the jungle to build the notorious bridge on the River Kwai. The author went on to serve as Dean of the Chapel at New Jersey's Princeton University..
