New York: A.H. Jocelyn, 1855. First Edition, First Printing. Engraved Broadside Sheet. Good +. Single sheet, 82 x 66 cm., hand colored engraving on wood. Double Elephant Folio sized broadside featuring 1) "Cronstadt, and a View of its Fortifications". 2) "Sebastopol and the Fortresses Outside". [An aerial view]. 3) "Map of the Baltic". 4) "New Map of the Crimea". 5) "Portraits of the Principal Crowned Heads; also, Russian, French, English, and Turkish Officers". [14 portraits in total]. Condition: Good+. With chipping, wrinkling and closed tears to edges, signs of handling throughout, spotting and scuffing here and there. An altogether chock-full-of-data Crimean War extravaganza with brilliant color. Scarce. Though there are recorded holdings of other Jocelyn published maps and broadsides that may include a single element found in this piece, we find no record of any holdings that even come close to the sheer exuberance of this extravaganza of multiple maps, views, and portraits.
