Also includes substantial essay, 38pp., on Ferrier, and Ferrier's Recollections of visits to Ashestiel and Abbotsford (home of Sir Walter Scott). A note on the text: "Miss Ferrier's novels have, since their first appearance, suffered curtailment in all subsequent editions. The present edition is the first reprint since from the original editions, and contains the whole of the omissions in other reprints." attributed to GB, New Burlington Street, presumably George Bentley son of the publishing founder, and subsequent partner. Bumpus binding signed in gilt to lower margin inside both rear boards is presumed slightly later than the contents. Maroon labels are perhaps from an earlier binding. Includes Venetia, Coningsby, Edymion, Lothair, The Young Duke and Count Alarcos, Vivian Grey, Tancred, Sybil, Henrietta Temple, Contarini Fleming and the Rise of Iskander, and Alroy. Light brown cloth with gilt and black titles and decorations to spines, and dark blue and gilt cartouche to the front with gilt and blue border, and further gilt boarder to the edges of the front board. Each page has a red border line around the text. Title pages each with a different engraving showing an aspect of Disraeli's county house, Hughenden Manor, the lake, the terrace, the study, etc. Edward Buckton Lamb had done the remodelling of the house for Disraeli and his family. Very clean. Cloth is rather softened and a little worn to spine ends, some corners are slightly bumped. Some rubbing to corners. Just a little faded to spines. Text is clean. Bindings are sound. Gilt dentelles. Marbled endpapers and marbled to all page edges. Illustrated by Richard Doyle. The narrator is Arthur Pendennis, the protagonist of Pendennis. Leather to spine is very slightly faded and there is a hint of rubbing to spine hinges which remain strong. Text is particularly clean and crisp. Very good copy . Hardback. 1903.

Very prettily quarter bound in vellum with dark pink and gold art nouveau flower and leaf decorations to spine and dark pink cloth to boards. gilt to top edge. xiv, 749pp. No date but prize label dated 1909. Pale gold cloth ribbon bookmark. Vellum is in excellent condition to surface and to spine hinges, and with bright decoration but somewhat darkened and dust marked and there is some dust marking to edge of cloth and faint dark marks to the boards. Very tiny surface nick to the dark pink title panel to the spine. Text is clean. Binding is sound. Book mark is a little fragile. Text is clean. Binding is sound. Good+, sound copy . Hardback.

Two novellas originally published just nine years earlier. Raised bands and gilt titles to spine with the date 1845 to the tail of the spine. Maroon, beige and light blue marbled papers to boards. Gilt to all edges. Marbled endpapers. Leather is somewhat scuffed to surface intermittently along the spine joints, to the leather corners and in just a couple of places to the raised bands. Small area of exposed board to the tip of one corner. A little rubbed to edges. Leather remains sound to the joints, likewise inner hinges. Occasional foxing and brown blemishes, mostly minor, chiefly to margins, though some text and illustrations affected. Remains a readable and attractive copy. Good+, sound copy . Hardback. 1845.

Otherwise, and in general effect, a very nice copy of a scarce Nineties title, with a bookplate (C.C.
