A broad picture of every aspect of British India in 1931 patterned after Sir Richard Temple's, India in 1880. Among the specialist authors are Sir Harcourt Butler, Sir William Barton, General Sir George Barrow, the Editor, Sir E. Denison Ross, W.H. Moreland, Sir Thomas Ward, Lord Meston, Vera Anstey and Sir Alexander Murray. Two of the maps show the Indian railways in 1872 and 1930; another the composition of the Indian Army in 1929.
