Routledge crown octavo edition issued at price 3/6 in dark blue cloth with gold lettering on the spine. 352 pages plus prelims, frontispiece illustration of Modeste Mignon, and, at the rear of the book, a 4 page article on "Balzac in English" from The New York Tribune 1885, plus reviews of other Balzac titles. the book is rubbed at the edges and worn at the corners with the cloth fraying at the head and tail of the spine, top edge dust soiled and the binding is a bit loose with a couple of threads gone. A fair copy.. First Edition.
