Cambridge: Cambridge University Press, 1933. First edition.. Faint tanning to the endpapers only; a very bright and clean copy in near fine condition.. Pp. xiv, (2), 259, (3) + 68 plates (58 are color-plates, 10 are black-and-white photos-plates), 11 text-figures. Publisher's original light blue cloth, gilt-lettered on the spine, top page edge in gilt, sm folio. The 58 colored plates are from water-color drawings of living plants by Hilda Godfery. The plates in this work depict 50 species, subspecies and varieties, and 18 natural hybrids. Many are illustrated life-size; in some cases, enlarged single flowers are presented. Publisher's errata sheet is laid at front. The cloth does not exhibit any of the wear and fading usually seen in this volume. Small book plate of legendary book collector, George H. Beatty, III on the front endpaper.
