Unclipped with mild shelf wear, micro-chips and creases to edge extremities typical of dust jackets of this age. Dust jacket in professional Brodart collector plastic sleeve. Signed with rare long inscription by author Herbert Mitgang on first endpaper and hand written letter to friends on postcard laid-in. The Montauk Lighthouse in New York was one of the inspirations to the novel and where the famous author, journalist, historian and playwright had written the postcard. Cover art by Paul Bacon and rear cover photograph of author by Henry Grossman. Classic spy thriller novel during the height of the Cold War, signed with scarce postcard, inscriptions, autograph(s), association copy, collectible. 285 pgs. 8vo.
