1721 Batrachomyomachia GREEK Homer Iliad Frogs & Mice Isaac Newton One of 204
"Batrachomyomachia" or 'Battle of the Frogs and Mice' is a parody of Homer's famed Greek epic poem the 'Iliad'. This story follows the tale of a mouse-prince who encounters the legendary Frog King. Originally thought to be written by Homer himself, numerous other figures are considered to be the author of this work, including Pigres of Halicarnassus, Lucian, or even the Queen of Caria.
This 1721 Maichael Maittaire edition was printed as part of a very limited print run, one of only 204 copies given to subscribers. Notable names included in the subscriber list include Richard Mead, the Bishop of Winchester, and even Isaac Newton!

The author's non-linear poem about the billeting of soldiers in civilian homes in wartime. Copy 89 of a limited edition of 250. It's a thought experiment: if we tore down the barracks at military hospitals and offered incentives for Americans in the surrounding neighborhoods to quarter injured service members, what would the honest instructions… Read More
