New York: Canaveral Press, 1975. Fine condition in Very Good dust jacket. Bright, clean, square, tight, unmarked copy. Sharp corners. No price on Dust Jacket (but NOT clipped). No owner's name or bookplate. No remainder mark With Dust Jacket art and 7 full-page illustrations by Mahlon Blaine. Although titled THE MOON MEN, this book was first published by McClurg in 1926 as THE MOON MAID. This is the second edition with Mahlon Blaine's drawings, the first having been published by Canaveral in 1962 (see Zeuschner #344, and Currey p. 90). The dates on the copyright page of this copy are 1923, 1925, 1951, 1953, 1962 (but not 1975, as in some copies described by other booksellers). Original brown cloth, lettered in gold. . Second Canaveral Press Edition. Hardcover. Fine condition/Very Good dust jacket. Illus. by Blaine, Mahlon. 8vo. 375pp.
Synopsis
Edgar Rice Burroughs was born in Chicago, Illinois in 1875. After serving a short time in the 7th U.S. Cavalry, Burroughs was a shopkeeper, gold miner, cowboy, and policeman before becoming a full-time writer. His first novel, Tarzan of the Apes , was published in 1914, and along with its 22 sequels has sold over 30 million copies in 58 languages. Author of numerous other jungle and science fiction novels and novellas, including The Land That Time Forgot , Burroughs had a writing career that spanned almost 30 years, with his last novel, The Land of Terror , being published in 1941. He died in 1950 at his ranch near Tarzana, the California town named for his legendary hero.
