About This Item
The Moonstone (1868) by Wilkie Collins is a 19th-century British epistolary novel, generally considered the first full length detective novel in the English language. Rachel Verinder, a young English woman, inherits a large Indian diamond on her eighteenth birthday. It is a legacy from her uncle, a corrupt British army officer who served in India. The diamond is of great religious significance as well as being extremely valuable, and three Hindu priests have dedicated their lives to recovering it.

Reviews
One of the best detective novels I have ever read. This book is a precursor to all detective classics in English. The style of writing is unique, the way the narration begins and accounts of each and every character that are involved in the plot, is one of the first of its kind. This is a must read book for all those who are interested in detective novels.
