Previous owner's gift inscription on the front pastedown; offsetting on title page from the frontis; occasional faint finger smudge to the margins; sound binding. An attractive copy of this children's classic, with illustrations by Johnny Gruelle, the creator of Raggedy Ann and Andy.

Navy blue cloth lettered in gilt and with tipped on color illustration of the Man in the Moon speaking to two litle children via a "radio-phone". Color illustrated endpapers. 121 pp. Color plates as wells as line drawings in the text by Johnny Gruelle. A good to very good example, some scratching to the cover illustration and with some spotting to the cloth on the gilt title lettering. Pencil child's ownership infpormation in the appropriate area on front pastedown. Front hinge starting but text block still firm, bit of fingering and a small taer to the title page.

First edition of this charming collection of new and classic children's stories as told by the Man in the Moon, with the help of radiophone technology, a beautiful copy. Radiophones were more commonly known as crystal radios, and they were some of the earliest portable radio devices. Crystal radios could only facilitate one-way communication, hence the format of the Man in the Moon telling these stories. 8.5'' x 6.5''. Original blue publisher's cloth binding with color pictorial paste-on. Color pictorial endpapers of the man in the moon looking down on a town. Illustrated by Gruelle with full-page color frontispiece with seven full-page color plates and numerous black-and-white in-text illustrations throughout. 121, [1] pages. Owner leaf filled out in ink, dated 1923. Light bumping to spine ends, gilt on spine slightly faded, else quite beautiful: hinges firm, cloth bright.
