London & New York.: John Lane: the Bodley Head, 1899. Beerbohm devoted himself to writing charming pieces about whatever topic struck his fancy. The essays collected in More described here, reflect his lifelong belief that good sense about trivialities is preferable to nonsense about important matters. The London published first edition. The covers are very fresh and clean, with title label to spine in excellent condition. Dark green cloth as called for. Binding is very tight and secure. There is an ink signature, bold and flambuoyant across the top right corner of the title page [ image to follow ]. The ink has seeped/blotted and can be seen via verso and a tad on the half-title and following page [ not affecting text . I cannot figure out the signature. Else this copy is very very nice indeed. p.201. . First Edition. Hard Cover. Very Good +. 16mo - over 5¾" - 6¾" tall.

Noticeable tanning to rough-cut text block edges. Small tears to pages. Some rub-marking and tanning to pastedowns and endpapers with small plate to front. Boards have moderate shelf wear, with rubbing and marking. Light bumping to corners and heavy crushing to spine ends, causing cloth to fray. Binding remains firm. Boards are slightly bowed and tanned.

More prominent to text block edges, pastedowns and free endpapers. Light cracking to gutters but binding remains firm. Boards have minor corner bumping and edgewear with mild tanning and scuffing overall. Spine has much heavier tanning with soft crushing to ends. Book has a slight forward lean.
