Stanford, CA: Stanford Univ Press, 1948. First Edition, First Thus . Hardcover. Near Fine/No Jacket. Otheto Weston (Author-Photographer & Illustrator of Endleaf-map). Text/As New w/light brown spotting (acidic paper reaction), and discoloration to front endpapers (likely to have housed a newspaper clipping); bookshop sticker to rear cover verso. Decorated beige boards/NF w/trace soiling. DJ/None. Maps to endpapers. Photographic record of physical structures, some standing others crumbling, left behind on the Mother Lode by the short lived on rush of frenzied hords in search of gold, supplemented with stories and anecdotes. The photos for this book were taken over some fifteen years. Otheto Weston says by the time of publication in 1948, fully "half of the structures shown in this book have vanished.
