First edition hardcover in green cloth, gilt titles and gilt pictorial of early automobile on front cover; no dust jacket; pages tight and unmarked; heavy damp-stain at top of front cover; front free endpaper is partially stuck to front pastedown endpaper; heavy damp-stains to the following pages: half-title, frontispiece, page v (Editor's Note), and page vi (Table of Contents); the photographic plates (which are printing on a glossy stock) show minor damp-stains along the top edge and the top part of the fore-edge, ranging in extent from 1/16 to 1/4-inch from the edge; light soil to covers; text pages have minor damp-wrinkling along same edges; minor darkening to backstrip; illustrated with 34 full-page photographic plates and numerous illustration in the text.
