London: Longman, Green, Longman and Roberts, 1862. First edition. Hardcover. Good + overall. John Tyndall (1820 - 1893) was a prominent 19th century physicist and philosopher. He was an accomplished author, speaker, mountaineer. Presented to Ursula Corning by her father. She was a noted mountain climber (Matterhorn) & skier and member of The Alpine Club in London. She worked for the OSS, a predecessor to the CIA, during World War II.
