A Moveable Feast by HEMINGWAY, Ernest (1899-1961)

[Modern literature] FIRST UK EDITION [three copies, including an UNRECORDED BINDING] A presentation of three First UK Editions in variant publisher's bindings of brown cloth (brand name 'Fabroleen'), black cloth ('Excelin') and red cloth ('Milskin'), blocked in shades of gilt. Each has patterned endpapers, the brown binding has a red topstain. Generally very good copies without jackets; one volume with bookplate, another with label removed, some moderate shelfwear. A rare set - we have previously noted the variant brown cloth but and have never encountered the black cloth, which is not noted in Grissom's bibliography. The red cloth is the regular published edition. The Pulitzer and Nobel Prize-winning author's Parisian memoirs as part of the American expatriate circle of writers in the 1920's. Features his recollections and experiences of the prominent characters and personalities including Aleister Crowley, Ezra Pound, F. Scott Fitzgerald, Ford Madox Ford, Hilaire Belloc, James Joyce and Gertrude Stein. The English first edition was read by Hemingway's Cape stablemate Ian Fleming in proof form.
