This is an early 10-volume set of CHARLES DARWIN botany/natural history books. The books were published by D. Appleton and Company in New York and date from 1877 to 1884. Most of the books contain illustrations and/or tables (see below). Four of the books are stated 2nd Editions (see below). The set is comprised of the following 10 volumes:

Condition:
Overall the book are very clean on the insides with nice pages. Fraying to the heads of the spines. Here are the condition issues by volume: Animals & Plants Vol I has a circular stain on the front cover and cracks at the hinges; stains to a few pages at the beginning of the book up to the title page; stains on the long edge of the text block; Vol II has a 3" cloth tear at the right edge of the spine, a tear at the bottom of the spine that has been repaired and partial cracks at the hinges. Cross and Self Fertilization has a thin, light stain at the upper-outer edge up to about page 111. Climbing Plants has a crack at the front hinge before the title page. The first 3 pages of Orchids have a thin, light stain at the outer edge. The first 4 pages of Vegetable Mould have a thin, light stain at the bottom edge. Movement of Plants has a crack at the front hinge before the title page and a thin, light stain at the outer edge of the first 2 pages.
