Mrs. Owens' Cook Book and Useful Household Hints

by Owens, Mrs. Frances E

Condition: Fair with No Dust Jacket as issued

Owens Publishing Co.. Fair with No Dust Jacket as issued. 1887. Revised Edition. Hardcover. This book is wonderful with hints on how to do all kinds of things, in addition to recipes. At some point, apparently long ago, it was rebound. This binding has come loose and rubbed away in many places, both front and rear. The spine is still good except for a little splash of white paint through the gilt title. Example of hints: mix together 2 ounces lemon juice (or 1/2 drachm powdered borax) and 1 drachm sugar, let stand in glass bottle a few days, rub on face occasionally -- to remove freckles. Laid in are a torn up Royal Baking Powder booklet, correspondence with hand-written recipes and notes to someone's daughter that this was her great-grandmother's cookbook. ; 8vo 8" - 9" tall; 498 pages; 31315 .
