Langley BC Canada: Battleline Books, 1986. Green cloth covered boards with gilt titling to spine. Dust jacket design based on a 1944 military map complete with a charcoal drawing of Major General George Kitching by Clair Cole. Slight rubbing and short, closed tears to the jacket edges. Minimal bumping to spine ends of the book. Clean, clear text complete with many black and white photographs, some full page. Strategic military maps from 1943-1945 depicted on the front and back paste downs and end papers. 329 pages. Introduction by Colonel Charles P. Stacey. General George Kitching's Memoir begins with his childhood in China and British Columbia, follows his military education, and eight-year posting in Singapore, Malaya, and India with the British army. He was transfered to the Canadian armed forces and sent overseas with the first Canadian Division at the beginning of the Second World War. Kitching served in Sicily and North-East Europe - concluding the war in command of an armoured Division in Normandy. Kitching also speaks to his life after the war in excellent reflection on Canada's past and future military state.. Signed by Author on Title Page. First Edition (stated). Hard Cover.
