Lucknow: Syed Baqar Husain at the Muslim Press, 1932. Book. Very Good. Soft cover. First Edition. 62pp. Tall 8vo/24cm. Brown printed wrappers, spine chipped at head, previous owner name (S. Ali Ausat Zaidi) on cover, otherwise internally clean, tight and very good. A sub-title on the first page has, "(An Islamic Missionary Publication.)" An ad on the inside of the front cover describes the Madrasatul Waizeen (or College of Preachers), Lucknow: "Under the patronage of Shamsh-ul-Ulema Maulana Syed Najmul Hasan Sahib, Mujtahid, this Islamic missionary movement has been working since 1920. Its field of operations has not been confied to India and Burma but its missionaries have done a good deal of work in Zanzibar, Uganda, Mombasa, Darussalam, SIngapore, Shanghai, &c. [signed by] Mirza Abid Husain, Honorary Secretary." There are 10 articles: H.E.H. The Nizam's Visit to Madrasat-uo Waizeen...by the Editor; Ali's Sermon...Translated by Syed Ahmad Ali, Mohani; Martyrdom of Imam Husain by Syed Ameer Ali Masoomi; The Tragedy of Karbala by Ali Hasnain; Islam in England by Syed Abid Husain; The Bible and the Quran by the Editor; Prohibition of Wine in Islam by Syed Ahmad Ali Mohani; What Is True Islam by Sir Ahmad Husain, Nawab Amin Jung Bahadur; The Martyr of Karbala by Hon. Justice A.D. Russel; Hazrat 'Abbas at Karbala (also by Justice Russell); and "One Minute on Islam by K.I. Bhattacharge "Shahjanta". At the end there is a 4-page Urgent Appeal for funds to the subscribers from the Editor to keep the publication going. The Editor is also described on the cover as "the M.R. and Financial Secretary of the Madrasatul Waizeen." Scarce to Rare. No copies were found in the OCLC, LC, and Harvard on-line catalogues but the British Library had copies of Volumes 35 to 48, from 1948 to1962..
