He is described by the author as ' my friend and comrade' and 'one of the most gallant gentlemen that ever buckled on a sword-belt'. He had taken over command of a detachment the 5th Punjab Cavalry from Younghusband and was killed in an assault near Lucknow on 10th March 1858. An unusual Association copy of this scarce title.
