Facsimile reprint edition of 2,000 copies - this copy unnumbered. Monotone photographs on front and rear pastedowns. Frances Monck's journal of her year (1864-5) in Lower Canada (with marginalia and corrections by the author), detailing the social life of the upper classes - the travel, balls, personalities, sports, the military, etc., as well as observations on scenery, weather, modes of transport, settlement, etc. Mrs. Monck was the sister-in-law of Lord Monck, Governor-General of Canada, 1861-1867. Small tear (archivally taped) and associated soft wrinkles at the fore-edge of pages 163/4, tiny bump to the fore-edge of the rear board, small slight bump at the top of the spine..
