Menlo Park, California: Dymax. Very Good with no dust jacket. (1972). Softcover. "This book is about people, computers and a programming language called BASIC. We will communicate with a computer, in the BASIC language, about population problems. We will use a teletypewriter" (first page). Stiff orange wraps, title on cover with illustration of computer user working a teletype machine. Last page is advertisement for PCC / People's Computer Company, an early newspaper aimed at bringing computers to ordinary people. Produced on newsprint, text includes some illustrations and many programming examples. This copy does not identify the author though other copies do; it is not priced on the front cover as other copies are. Further it lists only Dymax as the publisher; other copies note Dilithium as the publisher. ; 8-1/4" x 10-1/2"; 63, [1] pp; While we have not seen conclusive proof that this edition without identification of the author etc. precedes those that are priced and name the author, we believe that to be the case. The language offered was a simpified form of BASIC known to be available in all implementations of the language. This title precedes the microcomputer/personal computer revolution and was influential in the adoption of BASIC as the language of choice on early small computers. ; Book a bit curled at spine with result that pages are slightly skewed, newsprint toned, a few pages with annotations (some pen, some pencil). .
