My Days With The Fairies is a highly decorative book which has tan coloured textured front endpapers and rear endpapers, tan coloured textured Title Page, and the Edmund Dulac colour illustration plates are mounted on the same tan coloured textured thick paper within a red border, with each Edmund Dulac colour illustration being tipped-in and having their own illustrated captioned tissue guard. The pages are in overall Very Good condition with a small retailer’s label applied to the base of the front pastedown, a neat contemporary inscription to a blank leaf with a small owner’s bookplate pasted in, and the Frontispiece and Title Page joined together but partially detached from the book. All 8 colour Edmund Dulac illustrations are present with their captioned illustrated tissue guards and are in Fine condition.

(7.2 x 5.3 inches). 128pp. Illustrated with 8 fine colour plates, plus 7 line drawings (chapter headpieces), and decorative title page by Cole and Anning Bell. A very good bright copy in the publishers green cloth biding with elaborate gilt decoration and lettering to the front board and spine. Colour illustration mounted onto the front board. Some minor offsetting to the blank endpapers from the dustwrapper and a small amount of bleed from the green dye used on the top edge of the text block to the very top of a few leaves, otherwise a lovely clean copy throughout. In the original dustwrapper with a colour plate mounted to the front panel. A few minor chips to the wrapper edges but generally a very good example. ---- The book is not dated but the adverts on the wrapper suggest a publication date of about 1919 and there is also a publishers advert slip loosely inserted which has the date 9.1919 at the bottom. -----… Read More

Description:
New York: R. Worthington, 1881. I have only been able to locate three other copies of this book in this country, one in the University of Louisville Library, one in the Florida State Library, and one in my own library that I am offering in a separate listing. However, there might be some copies in private hands. "Sunday Chatterbox" is an oversized children's book, measuring 7 5/8 by 10 inches. The book is unpaginated. It is in Good+ condition. The stories, poems, and songs for children are both secular and religious (bible stories). So why is this collectable? Not only due to its rarity, but because of the 90 gorgeous pen-and-ink drawings found throughout. (I suspect that other copies no longer exist because they've been cut up and their illustrations sold as individual prints.) These are also both secular (centering on children) or religious (illustrating bible stories). All are suitable for framing. (Interested buyers should email me and I will send them sample illustrations… Read More
