About This Item

New York: Random House, 1979. This Stated First Edition with the correct number line for Random House is in Fine condition, with a Very Good+ price-clipped dust jacket. (Click on photo.) Although Goldman had written about King John twice before, in the scripts for "The Lion in Winter" and "Robin and Marian," he had accepted the widely held historical view that John was monstrous as man, prince, and later, king. But when Goldman actually began to study his subject, he revised his earlier opinion and created this new and striking account of this youngest son of Henry II and Eleanor of Aquitaine. The book is bound in black boards with a black spine cloth and gilt titles. The binding is secure. The pages are clean and bright throughout, and I doubt the book was ever read. The price-clipped dust jacket has a small tear on the rear panel and some scratches on the front panel. I've placed it into a Brodart protective sleeve. The book measures 6 3/8 by 9 1/2 inches and includes 340 pages. . First Edition. Hard Cover. Fine/Very Good+. 8vo - over 7¾" - 9¾" tall.
