[56], 487, [61]pp; [32], 330, [26]pp. Contemporary full calf ruled in gold on the sides, spine with five raised bands and red morocco label lettered and decorated in gold, gilt decorations on the edges, gilt inner dentelles, marbled edges and endpapers. Engraved title, portrait of Thomas Munckerus engraved by H. Caussé, and forty-three in-text exquisite engravings, all in the Poeticon Astronomicon, representing the sun, the moon, and the constellations, reproduced from those published in a 1600 edition of the Phaenomena by Aratus. Includes the Fabulae and Poeticon astronomicon by Caius Julius Hyginus; Mythologias, Continentiam Virigilianam, & libellum de Prisco Sermone by Fabius Planciades Fulgentius; Argumenta Metamorphoseon Nasonianarum by Lactantius Placidus; Commentariolum de Imaginibus Deorum by Albricus philosophus. "This is an excellent edition, and adorned with fine plates," Harwood. With the book stamp of Dublin's Brady family on the flyleaf. Spine professionally rebacked, four short, closed tears to the edge of four of the leaves (not affecting text), mild wear to the board edges. An extremely bright and clean, near fine copy.
